If you are an employer in Singapore, it is important to know how and when to renew a Work Permit for your foreign domestic worker or foreign employee. The process can seem daunting, but ensuring your employees have valid Work Permits to continue working in Singapore is essential.

You should renew your migrant worker’s Work Permit 7 to 12 weeks before it expires to avoid any overstaying fines. It is also essential to renew the Work Permit before your worker travels overseas just before the Work Permit expiry date.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how and when to renew a Work Permit in Singapore.

The new foreign worker bond must be transmitted to MOM before the work permit can be renewed.

The effective date of the security bond can be post-dated up to 1 day after the expiry date of the existing Work Permit.

Medical Insurance for Work Permit Extend your worker’s existing medical insurance or buy a new policy.

  2. Refer to the renewal letter for specific instructions.
  3. After submitting the application, pay $35 for each renewal through VISA, Master Card, or direct debit.

Step 3 – Be notified of the renewal status

You will know the renewal status right after your submission. You can make an appeal if your foreign worker is not eligible to get a renewal. However, your appeal is unlikely to be successful unless you provide new information when you appeal.

In conclusion, renewing your foreign employee’s Work Permit in Singapore is a critical process that you must undertake before it expires to avoid any legal issues. By following the steps mentioned above, you can renew your Work Permit easily and quickly. Remember to renew your Work Permit 7 to 12 weeks before it expires and ensure that you have enough quota for foreign workers.
